Basic Advice for Young Marriages

Together we have compiled this small summary post with some simple findings and advice from our personal experience so far.


Your partner will change over the first few years of your marriage

The beauty of getting married young is that your journey together for a sense of identity as an individual and a couple are together along side one another. Give your spouse room to grow and with love you will grow towards each other.

You both come from different upbringings

Things from both of your upbringing - namely traditions and habits of your parents - will be brought into your marriage. Depending on the amount of difference between you and your spouse, it will take some time to get use to your partner.

It will take a few years for you to settle into your own relationship

This point is an extension of the previous however just as important.

Being in a new marriage will highlight differences you and the difficulties in your relationship however, as you are both young, you can adapt and grow your relationship together. It is important to identify and deal with these early because they will come back later and could break your relationship when you are vulnerable.


TL;DR - Change should be welcomed lovingly and it will continue to be hard for many more years.
